MHC Healthcare now expands these services to include Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT Services) for substance use disorders.  These services are provided by a multidisciplinary team headed by a psychiatrist who is board certified in addiction medicine with 15 years of experience treating persons with substance use problems. Persons seeking these services are not required to obtain their medical care via MHC Healthcare but integrated care has demonstrated optimal outcomes. We accept AHCCCS and most private insurance plans.

We have availability for both in person and telemedicine services provided within the scope of acceptable standards of care and consistent with federal and state regulations.

The DUI Education Skills Group is for adult men and women who have been arrested and convicted of Driving Under the Influence and have been court-ordered to attend DUI Education. Clients attend eight two-hour sessions, during which they receive education on the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, the impact their behavior has on others, and how to change the way they think about engaging in dangerous behaviors while impaired. The focus is on taking responsibility for one’s own actions and developing a plan for change.

Seeking Safety is a 27-session structured program designed for people with substance abuse and trauma, with “trauma” being defined as a severe life event such as physical or sexual abuse, a car accident, or a natural disaster. Most people who abuse substances have experienced some form of trauma during their lifetime. When trauma is particularly severe, the person who experiences it can develop post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The goal of this program is to help people find self-respect, as many people who have PTSD and have abused substances find it difficult to like themselves. The focus of Seeking Safety centers around keeping oneself safe: for each of life’s situations there are safe and unsafe ways of coping (i.e., using substances vs. asking for help). Clients learn coping strategies that insure safety and promote healing from the damaging psychological effects of trauma.

Relapse Prevention is designed to refresh and teach new skills utilizing CBT and MI to help clients identify unhealthy patterns of thoughts and behaviors.  These thoughts and behaviors can be an indication of being in a slippery place.  The facilitators will help clients to identify triggers or cravings before they lead to relapse or destructive behaviors.  The group members will have a relapse prevention plan to help them understand and prevent poor choices that can lead to relapse.

The Hidden Keys to Loving Relationships is a series of twenty one and one half sessions, which are open to both individuals and couples, intended to guide clients on a journey o relational discovery that has the potential to change their lives, if they are willing to take the steps to get there.  Clients are provided with a study guide, encouraged to read the notes in the guide before each session, take notes during session, and complete the discussion questions after a session for review at the next session.  The sessions come complete with audio-visual aids that cover the following subject matter: recognizing and valuing a mate’s differences; four essential elements every relationship needs to succeed and grow; overcoming the major destroyer of relationships; using emotional word pictures to increase intimacy and understanding: becoming best friends with your family; becoming free from the negative emotions of anger, hurt feelings, loneliness, worry and fear; discovering the value of your personality; recognizing and transforming unhealthy relationships, using communication to move into the deepest levels of intimacy; transforming trials and hurts into life-changing benefits; mutually fulfilling sexual intimacy; changing unwanted behavior and habits,; reducing and overcoming conflict; building boundaries in a relationship; discovering the barrier to intimacy; destroying the barrier to intimacy; divorce-proofing a marriage; how to energize a mate, and understanding the stages of life.

The Women’s Interpersonal Awareness Group (DV) provides an ongoing weekly psycho-educational group to assist persons who have been explosively angry, controlling, or emotionally, verbally, and physically abusive with their spouse, partner, children, and/or others, and may be also a survivor of domestic violence themselves. The group involves both educational and process elements to help people deal more effectively with their controlling attitudes and behaviors, their escalation pattern, and with their feelings of anger, frustration, and resentments that have led to abusive behavior in the present and past.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is a 6 month, 2 hour per week program that provides skills and support to help navigate life in a balanced way. Our group combines, dialectic, cognitive, and behavioral therapies in order to provide clients with positive and healthy mechanisms to handle painful emotions and situations. This group will teach a person how to increase self-awareness, control self-defeating thoughts, modify thinking and behaviors, and how to handle conflict and stress. The four areas of focus include: Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Interpersonal Effectiveness, and Distress Tolerance. The techniques and skills found in this program are able to treat many symptoms and disorders successfully, including those who have experienced trauma, anxiety, depression, and much more.

Parenting Power Workshops (Triple P) is a multi-level family intervention designed to promote positive parenting practices in the community. Parents will gain skills and techniques proven to prevent a range of social and behavioral problems in children and teens. Our Parenting Power Workshop has five in-person sessions and three individual virtual sessions, all focusing on parenting children 0-12 or teen parenting.

The Seven Challenges Program is designed for adolescent substance abusing or substance dependent individuals, to motivate a decision and commitment to change.
