MHC Certified Nurse-Midwifes

MHC Certified Nurse-Midwifes

Midwives are experts in normal pregnancy and childbirth. We value pregnancy and childbirth as normal life processes, but are trained to intervene if problems arise. Midwives focus on what is important to each woman and her family in order to provide personalized, evidence-based, safe care. They can prescribe medications, order and interpret labs, and care for women in a variety of healthcare settings, including hospitals.

The relationship between CNM and each women is an equal partnership. Every pregnancy is unique, and we strive to provide individualized care. We encourage you to be an informed, active decision-maker in your care.

Deliver in a State-of-the-Art Women’s Center

Our CNMs attend births at The Women’s Center at Northwest Medical Center, a state of the art facility with an excellent nursing staff and beautiful newly renovated private suites. You will have a “Golden Hour” which promotes bonding between you and your newborn immediately after birth. Your newborn will “room in” with you for your entire stay allowing you to actively participate in your baby’s care. Should a higher level of care be needed for a fragile baby a Level 2 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with specialized neonatal healthcare staff is available. You will have the opportunity to meet with all the midwives in our practice during your pregnancy. You can rest assured that the midwife who will be with you during your labor and birth is a familiar face.

Full Range of Pain Management Options

Under your midwife’s care you will have access to a full spectrum of pain management options during labor. You can choose to labor without pain medication, but an epidural is always an option!
